The Korean government has decided to provide information on developing diagnostic techniques to the Japanese government, which lacks the diagnostic tests for new coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

At the same time, they asked for the safety of Koreans staying on the cruise ship and discussed ways to cooperate between the two countries so that they can return home.

The Minister of Health and Welfare, Park Sung-hoo, discussed the cooperation between the two countries in response to Corona19 at 2 pm on the 17th by phone call with the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, Katto Katsunobu.

Minister Park Neung-hoo said, “I would like to ask for the safety of our citizens who are staying in the cruise ship.”

As the closest country, he mentioned the importance of information sharing and cooperation in defense measures between the two countries.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe asked the local government and private investigators to cooperate and expand the inspection capacity from 300 to 1000 a day by the 18th. On the other hand, Korea plans to increase the level of corona testing, which can be up to 5000 people a day, to 10,000 people at the end of this month.

Kato Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, “We are doing our best to prevent infections and cruise ships in Japan, and we are trying to increase the capability of diagnostic tests.”

In addition, there are several cases in which the path of infection cannot be specified in Japan, and it is necessary to take preemptive measures to cope with the increase of patients.

The two Ministers of Health committed their best to domestic defense and promised continued cooperation with each other.

At the end of the call, Minister Park said, “It was significant that the Ministers of Health were able to strengthen cooperation between the two countries through direct communication between Korea and Japan, while preparing a tight schedule at the forefront of the Corona 19 response.” We are also continuing communication with the Chinese National Health and Welfare Commissioner (MA, Xiaowei).
